When I was a teenager and still a beginning guitarist, I went to a concert in Seattle to see the Brian Setzer Orchestra. I ended up in the front row and could easily see him.

If you don’t know who Brian Setzer is, go to YouTube and watch some videos of him. He’s a great guitar player.

After that concert, I was highly motivated to practice – not just play – my guitar.

I wanted to be as good as him.

Now, I had listened to his music a lot. I was very familiar with all of his songs. I knew he was a good guitar player. But I had never *seen* him play until that day, and that made a huge difference. It was very motivating.

Whether your lacking motivation or not, go to a concert and see someone who is a virtuoso perform. It will blow your mind. It will motivate and inspire you.

Motivation is one of the key factors to improving your musical skills and reaching your musical goals. Motivation makes the process of getting to your goals much easier (even though the work is the same).

Lose your motivation and you will never reach your goals. Don’t let that happen.

So, what concert are you going to go to?
