Think about why you play guitar. What are your goals right now? Have your goals changed? Do they need to change?
Sometimes, as we learn our instrument, the reason why becomes clearer.
For example, when I was in college, I began playing classical guitar. I had never played classical guitar before. In fact, I had never read a note of music before. Actually, I didn’t even have a classical guitar! Turns out, I loved classical guitar. I had no idea. My guitar playing goals changed. I still play classical guitar today.
Later in college, I began playing in a jazz band. I had never played a single note of jazz before (though I had listened to it extensively). Turns out I loved playing jazz, too. My goals changed.
My guitar playing goals have changed a lot over the years, and it’s ok. If your goals change, it’s ok. They will.
