You should always be buying and listening to music. I buy new music every month, usually 1-2 albums.
Sometimes, I don’t know what music to get next, so this is how I choose. I simply go to Billboard or Rolling Stone or do a Google search for, “Top 100 (Rock, Pop, Jazz, etc) Albums of All Time.” I start at the top of scroll down the list. When I see an album I don’t own, I buy it. I do this because these albums are all very, very good. I will admit, sometimes I don’t end being crazy about what I buy, but more often than not, I am.
This is a good way to build a collection of great music. Buying the newest Katy Perry album is not always smart. Ok, that’s never smart. Bad example. The point is that I’ve owned a lot of music that wears thin very fast. Buying from a top 100 list pretty much guarantees you’re buying music worth listening to over and over again. So next time you’re wondering what to get next, try my way.
