If you’re trying to build higher speed, you need to focus on several aspects of your playing in order to accomplish that goal.
One of those aspects is the physical motions that each hands make, specifically, the excess motions your hands make.
Excess motion, as little as it may be, will slow you down.
The first thing you need to do to deal with this is identify where the excess motion is taking place, i.e. In the right hand, left hand or both.
For most people, it will be in both hands.
After identifying the excess motion, slow down and work towards minimizing the excess motion until it becomes natural, then increase your speed.
This is, of course, greatly simplified, but it’s a good place to start.
