There is a lot of confusion about how sweep picking works.
One of the concepts you need to understand is how the picking hand should move.
When sweep picking, your picking hand should never stop moving as long as it continues in one direction. If your picking hand stops your sweep picking will not sound great.
You should not pick each string with a separate motion of the picking hand. The hand should move through the strings with one motion, not many motions.
Picking each string separately will move your sweep picking far more difficult to execute and, at high speeds, it will be virtually impossible.
