1. Relax as much as possible when you play. Begin by playing slowly so you can focus more on relaxing than on what you’re playing. By relaxing, you can play faster and longer (with practice, of course) and you’ll avoid certain injuries by playing relaxed.

2. If you’re having trouble playing or changing chords, watch the video on my website (https://www.olympiaguitarlessons.com) – it will explain exactly how to smooth out chord changes (this applies to advanced players who use more complex chords, too).

3. When you listen to music, listen carefully. It’s one thing to hear music, another to listen to it. You might be surprised what you hear when you really pay attention.

4. Practice switching from playing a solo to playing rhythm seamlessly. It’s harder than you think, especially if you have to move between the two rapidly. Almost no one practices this.

5. Focus on your picking hand more. Most guitarists a lost completely disregard their picking hand, and a lot of problems can be solved by developing good picking hand discipline.
