Most guitarists only pay attention to their fretting hand when they’re playing.

Some will pay attention to their picking hand.

Almost none pay attention to anything else.

Unless you’re a beginner (and there are reason I say that) you need to pay attention to almost you entire body when you play.

Hands, wrists arms, shoulders, neck, back, even your face.

If we aren’t paying attention, tension builds. Tension restricts our movement, can make you sloppy and causes fatigue.

Tension, over time, can also lead to injury.

Next time you play – play with the goal of being aware of all the tension in your body.

You might be surprised at the results.
