Do not estimate the value of learning and studying styles of music other than the ones you enjoy playing most.
Getting good at a particular style is great, but you can easily get stuck or feel limited if you do not expand your musical vocabulary.
I grew up playing rock music but can tell you that nothing has helped me overall playing ability more than playing and studying classical music.
I also studied jazz, and that comes in a very close second in the way it has helped my playing.
Grab and Ted Greene book and start picking up chords and licks he teaches.
Get a book of easy classical guitar pieces and start learning a few of them.
You can also just turn on the radio and listen to a station that plays music you don’t normally listen to. If you have a decent ear you can pick out the melody, harmony or even just mimic the rhythms you hear.
You don’t have to understand or be an expert at every style, but you can learn a lot just by getting some of the basic ideas down.
