A lot of people are going to make New Year’s resolutions in the coming week. You should be one of those people.
Most people who make them will not keep them, it’s true, but that should not stop you at least making an attempt at it.
You might have some specific goals you want to reach in 2014. Write them down. If you want some accountability, send them to me and I’ll keep them in a safe place. I’ll ask you how it’s going periodically.
Here are a few ideas to get the juices flowing:
Practice 30 minutes every day.
Practice x minutes more every day.
Learn x number of songs this year.
Increase my playing speed from x to x by the end of 2014.
Follow or develop a practice routine.
Track my progress more closely this year.
Record a song by the end of the year.
Form a band and play at least one live show by the end of the year.
It did not take me long to think of these ideas. There are literally hundreds of good ideas for your New Years resolutions.
